Ami Story:
As some of you may know, we love to travel.
It all started December, 29 2018. I traveled to the DMV area to celebrate my twin, Lisa’s birthday / slumber party / housewarming. Her birthday is January 2nd and mine is the 3rd so we always make sure to find time to celebrate together. This year it was a group affair. I was so excited to be in the DMV area because they have the BEST suya.
I arrived on Friday for the housewarming and slumber party. Saturday during the day we did some shopping and Saturday night went to a formal dinner. After dinner I decided to meet up with one of my favorite cousins Sabigi. She knows ALL the popping spots in the DMV area. We decided to go to an after-hour spot in Silver Springs, MD. When we arrived, the spot was empty but I was happy because I was able to enjoy all the suya I can consume. As the night progressed the spot began to fill up pretty quickly. Unbeknownst to me, I had an audience for most of the night. As the night was coming to an end, a handsome gentleman approached me. Unfortunately I couldn’t hear him over the loud music, so I politely asked him for his business card. He unfortunately didn’t have one, but we managed to exchange numbers.
And so it began. We took a long time getting to know each other and built a solid foundation of trust, respect, transparency and LOVE. We took so long that our first date was the weekend of March 23rd 2019. From the moment we’ve met, Curtis has been consistent and his actions match his words. Being the thoughtful man that he is, he invited me to Myrtle Beach for our 1st date!!! I was excited!!! The weekend was phenomenal and after the weekend it was clear that we both were completely invested in making our long distance relationship work for us by always keeping God first and standing on the core value of our relationship: trust, respect, transparency and LOVE.
Curtis Story:
So here is the real story. Me and a few of my boys met up in Silver Springs, MD to celebrate New Year’s. Our close friend Ced stays in Silver Springs but his house was already full with visitors, so me and some guy named Patt ended up staying at a nearby hotel. We drove up a few days before New Year’s Eve so that we could party before the party! Ced and the rest of the boys met us downtown at some club but when we got there it was only 30 minutes left before they closed and they wanted to charge us $20 for entry. We weren’t paying that; so we tried a few more places but everyone had a strict $20 entry fee. We decided to go back home and wait for the big New Year’s Eve party.
Ced and the boys drove home, but as Patt and I were walking to the car we saw another club. We asked the bouncer, what time do they close and he said "We are just now opening up, we close at 4am." Patt and I didn't have anything to do so we entered the club and got a few drinks. As we were waiting for the club to get poppin I saw Ami. I joked to Patt and said "That's going to be my wife someday." I don't normally joke like that but for some reason I told that joke to Patt and he responded "She ain't gonna be nothing... you are probably too scared to talk to her anyway." So I wouldn't use the word "scared" but as I patiently waited for the right moment, I noticed Ami turning down guys left and right. I also noticed she wasn’t drinking. She was just eating. If you know Ami then you know she likes to eat!
It was getting late so I decided to go ahead and make my move before leaving. I approached Ami and asked her "Does she have a man?" She said "It's complicated". Then after a few more conversations she asked if I had a business card. I said "No....Do you?" She said "No" so in my mind I was thinking “then what you ask me for?!?!?” But either way I asked one last time for her number and she whispered something to her cousin Bigi and then finally gave me her number. From there we kept casual conversation but honestly it wasn't anything serious. I took a second job doing security where I had to stand for long hours so I would call Ami to keep me company and that's where we really started getting to know each other. Three months went by and it felt like we knew each other our whole life even though we hadn’t seen each other again since the first time we met. I decided to plan a beach trip to Myrtle Beach for us, and we had a blast. The rest is history!
